On Friday April 5th, students of the CJPS program and senior forensics classes had the opportunity to tour the Mid-State Major Crime Squad's mobile crime lab and command center. Detectives Patkoske and Morris of the Wethersfield Police Department, former teammates of CJPS instructor Mr. Cruickshank, spoke to students about the role of the team in major investigations and how they operate. Students were able to see all of the tools and equipment housed in the mobile lab while candidly speaking to the detectives about their careers, the hiring and promotion process, and what a typical day is like. Students were able to see that many of the skills they have been learning and equipment they have been using is the same as in the real-world and how critical mastery of these concepts can be to solving crime.
