As part of the CJPS Juniors’ EMT program, we regularly hold our lectures at CCSU for a change of atmosphere during these intense and grueling lessons. Today, as a special treat, the CCSU Criminology Department and the CCSU CJ Club students hosted us for a Taco Party!! There was a DJ, free swag, some program alumni reunions, and a ton of fun. Woo hoo! Tacos!! As a reminder, all CJPS students receive 3-free, fully transferable, credits from CCSU for Intro to Criminal Justice!
All four CJPS Programs (Vinal, Bullard-Havens, Prince, and Windham Tech), 105 students, and 6 buses all came together to help the FAA, New Haven FD, East Haven FD, and Homeland Security for a mock plane crash. It was an amazing training! As a reminder, we are always available to outside agencies to help with training drills! Fox61 News Story news12 News Story Sure, everyone knows how to use a fire extinguisher... but do you really? Students emptied a few fire extinguishers to see how they feel and the extent to which they can be used. Each extinguisher has a surprising amount of dry chemical inside and is able to extinguish large fires. September is National Disaster Preparedness month and CJPS is on it! As part of the students' training for emergency preparedness, they were given a challenge to build their ideal disaster preparedness kit for a family of four in a "typical New England October." The kits were amazing! Special thanks to Mr. Cruickshank's dad of the Hamden CERT team, Staff Sgt. Allie Guerra of the CT Air National Guard, and CT State Trooper Tim Haroian for being our panel judges. At the end of the competition, the winning student (Apollo) had their dream $650 disaster kit PURCHASED for them courtesy of the Cruickshank Family. NICE JOB! Some shop fun and ridiculousness... as usual. Some welcome back to school activities as well such as getting to know you "speed dating" and sophomore/junior egg toss! Fun times! |
