The Criminal Justice and Protective Services program, with the help of local law enforcement instructors, recently certified students in the Nation’s Stop the Bleed initiative. Students learned how to stop life threatening bleeding that can occur in any number of circumstances from industrial and motor vehicle accidents and human threats. Students learned the material and then demonstrated their skills in a variety of challenging scenarios designed to make them improvise and do the most good. The National Stop the Bleed initiative was implemented due to the high number of deaths that occur annually from severe bleeding. These victims typically have less than five minutes before their life threatening injuries cannot be reversed. Vinal Technical High School is no officially a Stop the Bleed school complete with trained students and an Emergency Bleeding Control Station.
